Mürren is one of the most peaceful places we visited in Switzerland.  There are so many great things to do in the area it is hard to pick.  Here's a list of things we did on our trip and loved each one.

  1. Walk down to Gimmelwald - About mid-way through Mürren there is a path going down to Gimmelwald. It winds slowly down the mountain past a couple houses, a stream, a cow pasture, and finally into the village.

Freiburg City in South west of Germany was visited on 25th Jun 2011. From Basel, Switzerland we took a train at about 1045am. An ICE Basel to Freiburg takes just over 1/2 hours, whereas a local train about an hour. We were 4 persons with a infant of 1 yr. old, we took the Baden-Württemberg ticket which costs only 53 CHF (for up to 5 people), which was valid for the entire day on local trains in all of Baden-Württemberg and also on trams in Freiburg.

2012 in review

31 Dec

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

4,329 films were submitted to the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. This blog had 17,000 views in 2012. If each view were a film, this blog would power 4 Film Festivals

Around Thanksgiving in the United States is when you'll start to hear holiday music and see holiday lights and trees go up in earnest. During the holiday weekend just before dark I decided to checkout the scene at one of my favorite areas in Atlanta, Pemberton Place and Centennial Olympic Park.

Walking onto the heart of Pemberton Place I immediately saw all the enlarged ornaments around the World of Coca-Cola.

This past summer I decided to head to the Wildwoods boardwalk in NJ. Wildwoods is located in Cape May County, the southern part of NJ and the boardwalk overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. I have never been before even though I live roughly 1.5 hours away from there. The summer of 2012 was a hot, humid and mostly sunny summer until of course the day I chose to go to the Wildwoods.

With so many new hotels opening in London this year, it's hard to decide on where's the best place to lay your head.
To help, here's my top three, plus a little insider knowledge for each.

Best for thrill-seekers: ST ERMINS HOTEL, ST JAMES'S PARK

When I was invited to stay in the newly renovated St Ermins Hotel, once the home of spies and espionage, I imagined dimly-lit corridors and dark corners to hide out in.

I honestly have no idea where to even begin. I just got home from Iberostar Rose Hall Suites Montego Bay in Jamaica and it was the best 6 days of my life. Literally. I can not explain how amazing it was. I am just beginning this blog post and I don't know how I am going to put into words a post about my short, but amazing, time in Jamaica.

There are A LOT of outdoor movie options in and around DC during the summer.  Here is a list of a few of the options:

DC

Maryland

Smithsonian Folklife Festival

25 Jun

To me, the week leading up to the Fourth of July in DC = the Smithsonian Folklife Festival.  The Smithsonian holds this festival annually on the National Mall and usually includes three to four topics.  Past festivals have included topics like Colombia, Peace Corps, NASA, and “Roots of Virginia Culture.”  This year the festival will be held from June 27-July 1 and July 4-8, 2012.  The topics of this year’s festival are Campus and Community, Citified, and Creativity and Crisis.  The hours are from 11am to 5:30pm.  There will be performances (concerts and dancing), food, demonstrations, and more.  If you happen to be in DC, visit this festival!

Hong Kong is great. Mostly. But some things are just better in Macau……..

  1. Birds:You can wake up and hear birds singing outside your window in the middle of the city.
  2. Street Signs:The street signs are in Portuguese, which is super cool.
  3. The Sky:It can actually be blue at night instead of just reflecting the light of the city back down at you.
